PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
In partnership with the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration and the Nova Scotia Government, we are able to offer free professional development courses through the Workplace Education Initiative enabling you to learn the skills you need to run your business successfully. Our courses vary from Microsoft Excel to website design, and give you a wide breadth of knowledge and skills for running your business.

As your Chamber, we run several events per year poising your business for many sponsorship opportunities. We offer sponsorship opportunities for our Fall Golf Classic, Celtic Oktoberfest and many more enabling your business to get some much-deserved promotion whether it’s on our banners, in our social media posts or radio ads giving your business some community recognition.

Through our Step Up For Local campaign, we advocate for our communities to shop locally and support small businesses in our area. We advocate for businesses in our area all year-round and ensure that the voices of trade and commerce are heard.

The Strait Area Chamber has brought an array of business service providers together under one roof to help businesses navigate through start-up, ongoing challenges, and opportunity development.
BUSINESS SUITE 101 is located at 609 Church Street in Port Hawkesbury. Along with the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce, you will find the Cape Breton Partnership, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI). Clients can take advantage of free access to our boardroom, wifi, reception services, as well as the regular services provided by the Chamber, ACOA, NSBI and the Cape Breton Partnership.
The Strait Area Chamber was the catalyst behind this concept to develop a collaborative working space that will ensure businesses can access services quickly, and don’t need to spend a lot of time trying to learn to navigate the system. As a chamber of commerce, that’s our role – advocacy is what we do!
