EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS AWARD
The Excellence in Business Award is sponsored by the Business Development Bank of Canada. It is presented annually to a member in good standing who has demonstrated a commitment to; business, employee growth and Strait Region communities. You can nominate a business or fill out an application on behalf of your own business.
RISING STAR NEW BUSINESS AWARD
The Rising Star New Business Award is sponsored by InRich CBDC and is presented to reward the efforts of the entrepreneur who has created a successful and growing business through the application of commitment, dedication, hard work, ingenuity and innovation. The following eligibility criteria must be met for this award: must have been in business no more than three years, owner can demonstrate through good business planning a consistent growth and development pattern.
MARC DUBE INNOVATION AWARD
The Marc Dube Innovation Award is granted each year by the Cape Breton Partnership at the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce Fall Dinner & Awards Gala. Marc Dube was the Development Manager at Port Hawkesbury Paper when it was reopened by parent company Stern Partners following a difficult period of closure. His innovative, professional and compassionate approach to his work and community had a deep impact on the region. This award is presented annually to a business, organization or person who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to innovation and business success.
OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD
This award is designed for our members to put the spotlight on one of their employees that has demonstrated outstanding, “above and beyond” service to the citizens and customers for their employer over the last year. Nominee’s actions must reflect all five of the customer service attributes:
1. Courteous: Greet the customers promptly and courteously.
2. Helpful: Honour your commitments in a timely manner.
3. Accessible: Listen to the customers with respect. Be polite. Focus on their perspective.
4. Responsive: Own the customer’s issue.
5. Knowledgeable: Provide accurate and up-to-date information..
EXPORT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The Export Achievement Award is sponsored by NSBI and is intended to recognize a company that has achieved success over the past year through development of new or existing export markets and by significantly contributing to the province’s economic growth.
SAFETY CHAMPION AWARD
This award, sponsored by the Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia, recognizes an individual that has demonstrated excellence in safety and health practices in the workplace to their coworkers, suppliers, and/or the community. Nominees must have identified a need for, or taken a leadership role in, the development of a safety improvement related to any aspect of a business. If you have an employee who has demonstrated care and compassion for co-workers, customers, etc, then nominate your Safety Champion to recognize their contribution to making workplaces safer!
CLUB 25 / CLUB 50
Could your company be a Club 25 or Club 50 inductee? The Chamber is proud to recognize member businesses that have been serving the Strait Area for 25 & 50 years and have not previously been inducted into Club 25 or 50.
